So you have some questions on Viewsat and IKS and the new V-Link we intend on answereing all of your questions.

1) What is IKS?

IKS is shortform for Internet Key Sharing, it is a way through an external Device, usually called a Dongle that allows your receiver to talk to the internet, and get the keys automatically as they change.

2) What is a Dongle?

A Dongle is a small device that plugs into the back of your Serial Port. This Dongle allows you to connect Ethernet Cable or a Wireless Connection to your modem or router. The Dongle then facilitates a connection between your receiver and the internet.

3) This sounds complicated.

It really isnt, we have step by step guides and tutorials that guide you through this process.

4) How Do I load the Bins onto my Viewsat?

in this section we have the new Viewsat V-Link Loader, as well as the Guides that teach you how to load files into it. If you have experience with the old Loader 2 Program from viewsat you will have no problems. If you do not have experince with Loader 2, we will instruct you how to do this. Basically You would connect the dongle into the back of your receiver, and then run ethernet cable from your dongle to your modem or router, once you do that, and download and install the loader program, y ou will be able to load files onto your viewsat, without having to use a USB drive, or hook the viewst up to your computer. Your computer reconizes the Dongle, as a device, and allows you to send files to it over a network. This is a easy process.

5) When are the bins coming out for this?

You can expect new files will be posted within a week or so.

6) What does this V-Link look like?

viewsat v-link vlink v.vs w-link

7) How much does the V-Link cost?

It will retail around $89.00 to $109.99

8.) Will you guys make videos on how to setup the v-link?

Yes, like most major FTA Receivers we support, we will create How ‘ To videos on everything from loading files, to installing the device and so on.

V-LINK loader

The Viewsat V-Link is on its way soon to a local FTA Dealer or Ebay seller near you.

It retails for 59.99 and works with all versions of Viewsat! So if you have an Platinum, Extreme, PRO, 7000 PVR, Ultra, Ultra-Lite, 9000 HD or Viewsat MAX you are in luck!

Every Viewsat FTA Receiver has a serial port on the back of the receiver. This serial Port on the back of your receiver. The Dongle connects to the serial port, and must continue to connect during the duration of when you watch TV. We recommend to leave it connected for all time. It does not generate much heat, and has a low battery, so it will not draw much power.

The V-LINK is a next generation IKS device spearheaded by a private Viewsat team. The IKS service itself is free, but you can bet that private card sharing services will be established to draw users into more stable service for higher monthly or yearly fees.

Some Viewsat owners are used to loading files via USB for the newer Viewsat receivers, or for the older models, you had to use Viewsats Loader 2 program. The new V-Link has to be used with a loader program no matter if your receiver has a USB port or not. Getting used to working in the loader program is something EVERYONE will have to get used to going forward.

Because the V-LINK is connected via a serial port, this facilitates a connection between hardware and port and your computer.

You will need to connect your internet connection from your V-LINK to your modem or router.

It is unsure exactly how updates will be done, our best guess is that you will have to use the loader on your computer, while your v-link/viewsat is connected via USB to serial cable to your computer and you load files that way.

We belive you might have to do this process at least once, because you need to configure the IP/Server address along with port numbers.

The V-LINK is something every viewsat owner has been looking forward to, you may finally use your Viewsats again without having to buy a new receiver.

It remains to be seen if the IKS Units will surface on the market, one would think so. A new loader program has been developed to setup your unit for the first time, also a new Guide has been published as well.
