DISH customers may lose local Fox station

DISH Network satellite TV customers in the Charlotte area may lose Fox affiliate WCCB (Channel 18) at midnight tonight because of a dispute over carriage fees.

Fox Charlotte and DISH have been unable to agree on how much the satellite provider will pay to retransmit the station’s signal to subscribers. Their agreement expires at the end of May, and months of negotiations have not brought a resolution, John Hutchinson, the station’s general manager, said in a statement.

Fox Charlotte had offered to extend the previous agreement with the satellite provider past the holiday weekend, when negotiations could resume, but DISH refused, Hutchinson said.

Customers who receive television over the air, on local cable systems or from other satellite providers will not be affected.
